Sudeshna Chatterjee

Dr. Chatterjee is an architect and urban designer and a partner in the research-based design practice of Kaimal Chatterjee & Associates in New Delhi, India. Dr. Chatterjee is responsible for the urban design of the newest capital city, Naya Raipur, for the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Dr. Chatterjee received her PhD in Community and Environmental Design from North Carolina State University, USA. Her current research interests and publications explore global vs. human cities; the intersections of childhood and urban space; sustainable urban design and planning; and the politics of displacement and urban development. Dr. Chatterjee is a research affiliate of the Children, Youth and Environments Center for Research and Design at the University of Colorado in Boulder, USA, and serves as the News Editor of the international, peer-reviewed journal “Children, Youth and Environments”. She is also a visiting faculty in the graduate departments of Urban Design and Urban Planning in the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
